OST is Re-appraised at CMMI Level 3

June 30, 2008 - OST has been re-appraised at CMMI Level 3. Today the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) finds itself at the forefront of process improvement in the industry; it provides the framework of latest best practices that can be incorporated into the solution delivery life-cycle. CMMI is the de facto global standard for technology development and integration efforts. For OST, it is part of their Business Excellence (BizEx) framework, serving as one of the validation mechanisms for quality consciousness. This is achieved through CMMI guided implementation of robust high-maturity processes, a rigorous analysis of carefully selected metrics, and organization-wide institutionalization of the importance and advantages of process improvement. OST’s philosophy, tools, and techniques have allowed them not just to maintain but heighten the maturity of the company.

The external auditors were thoroughly impressed with the strides OST has made since the last appraisal. They suggested that OST shares its best practices at the Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) conference, conducted by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) which is the premier global conference series on software and systems process management.

The CMMI framework is embedded in all processes at OST; it allows the company to focus on innovation, achieving their clients’ goals in the most cost effective manner and ensuring customer satisfaction. Continuous improvement and preventive action are the cornerstones of OST’s success. Currently OST is striving to obtain CMMI Level 5 by 2010.

OST Supported Project Earns Multiple Awards

May 15, 2008 - Optimal Solutions and Technologies (OST) announced today that the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) “Enterprise Income Verification” (EIV) project has been given the 2008 Excellence.Gov award. This award was sponsored by the American Council for Technology / Industry Advisory Council (ACT/IAC). EIV was one of the five government-wide projects awarded the Excellence.Gov award, which recognizes best practices in federal e-government programs. This award recognizes federal government programs focused on improved mission delivery to citizens, businesses, taxpayers, other government agencies, and other end-users through the use of IT. OST has supported this effort since 2004. More information about EIV’s Excellence.Gov award can be found here

This recent EIV recognition follows a 2007 Presidential Award for Management Excellence, which is the most prestigious award given to Federal Government agencies for efforts in implementing the President’s management agenda. Information about EIV’s Presidential Award for Management Excellence can be found here

EIV is integral to HUD's mission of providing low income families housing assistance funding so they can acquire decent, affordable housing. EIV verifies a taxpayer’s income to determine their eligibility of receiving federal housing benefits. HUD's EIV system is credited with drastically reducing fraud in the Department's rental assistance programs and removing HUD from the Government Accounting Office's high-risk list.

"We're proud to have been involved in support of HUD’s Enterprise Income Verification project. The success of EIV has saved taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year while offering a greater number of deserving families housing assistance." said Ajay Madan, OST COO. “We look forward to continued support of HUD’s mission.”

February

OST Team Member Published in Healthcare Related Scientific Journal

February 29, 2008 - An OST Project Manager co-authored an article that was published in scientific journal Bioinformation.  The article is entitled “CliniProteus: A Flexible Clinical Trials Information Management System”.

Abstract

Clinical trials involve multi-site heterogeneous data generation with complex data input-formats and forms. The data should be captured and queried in an integrated fashion to facilitate further analysis. Electronic case-report forms (eCRF) are gaining popularity since it allows capture of clinical information in a rapid manner. We have designed and developed an XML based flexible clinical trials data management framework in .NET environment that can be used for efficient design and deployment of eCRFs to efficiently collate data and analyze information from multi-site clinical trials. The main components of our system include an XML form designer, a Patient registration eForm, reusable eForms, multiple-visit data capture and consolidated reports. A unique id is used for tracking the trial, site of occurrence, the patient and the year of recruitment.
