Cloud Integration of Low Code COTS

Challenge

A DHS Component organization faced fragmented customer experiences across its independent program offices and directorates. This lack of coordination led to inefficiencies and a disjointed customer experience (CX), hindering the delivery of services and products. The organization is undergoing a Customer Experience (CX) Transformation to integrate these touchpoints, improving service delivery, and creating a unified, streamlined customer journey.

Solution

OST developed a FedRAMP approved solution that improved the authorization process, low-code Salesforce CRM system on the Salesforce Government Cloud. The solution included the roll out of five separate but interconnected instances, each with their own specialized workflows integrating multiple customer touchpoints with a Front Portal (Salesforce Communities Cloud) that allows users to manage and work cases. Data security is ensured with Salesforce Shield, protecting Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (SPII).

Outcome

The Salesforce Agile Tracker enhanced project management by creating cases with associated tasks, tracking tasks and backlogs, employing test scripts, and managing sprint progress within the platform, accelerating delivery and ensuring high-quality outcomes. The Program-Based Customer Relationship Management (PBCRM) system successfully supports DHS’s CX transformation initiatives, offering a secure, scalable platform that manages inquiries, cases, and tasks across multiple programs and organizational units. Key outcomes include:

DHS Cloud Migration Without Interruption

Challenge

DHS required a secure, compliant cloud solution to migrate enterprise systems from an expiring datacenter contract. The new environment required alignment with DHS enterprise architecture standards while ensuring high availability and cybersecurity compliance.

Solution

OST designed and executed the migration of DHS Company Owned, Company Operated (COCO) environment to a Government Owned, Government Operated (GOGO) FISMA High and FedRAMP-certified USDA DISC environment. Key elements of the solution included:

  • Designing and implementing cloud network infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with DHS OneNet.
  • Setting up secure virtual network circuits for data migration and application synchronization.
  • Optimizing authentication and single sign-on (SSO) to leverage the new Cloud environment capabilities.
