Optimizing Operational Performance for a Revenue Organization

Challenge

A major federal customer had a set of challenges related to an aspect of its revenue program. They needed to remove bottlenecks to support both electronic and paper revenue collection. They also needed to provide information and capability to their partners that help them with the revenue collection process. 

Solution

The customer hired OST to simplify their processes, simplify existing content to collect revenue, and to support operational optimization. We created a portfolio approach to synchronize and optimize processes across 30 projects, rather than managing them one-by-one. We aligned processes with organizational objectives and unified processes and information gathering across the portfolio, focused on eliminating impediments – schedule delays, risks, defects, and security concerns. We implemented new tools to visualize risks, and developed training to ensure the improvements were rapidly implemented.

Outcome

OST played a crucial role in the client’s solution by efficiently implementing necessary changes based on expert analysis, simulation, and effective risk management. We demonstrated expertise in technical tasks and performance optimization by implementing an urgent lean agile approach to conducting all work. OST improved resiliency in critical areas including SOP, asset management, and communication. All the work was automated through Performance Boards (developed in Tableau) to support rapid customer decision and rapid action.
