Congratulations to Azmeena Sayeed, a member of OST’s Center of Engineering and Innovation (CoEI), for presenting at the Integrated Communication Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference on April 7th.
Her presentation, A Holistic Guide to Perimeter Security and Surveillance, essentially discussed how critical infrastructures like airports, airbases, government facilities etc. are at a constant risk for physical intrusions due to the magnitude of highly critical actions happening inside them. Thus, these spaces require a robust perimeter security system to predict and prevent unwanted ground level intrusion. An approach with integrated use of dynamic and static sensors leveraging IoT Platform, AI/ML models, and 5G that Azmeena introduced provides enhanced situational awareness and actionable insights in real-time to security teams. This enables a more proactive approach to countering safety and security threats.
Azmeena’s session also outlined ways that predictive analytics can be used to solve complex problems by evaluating past and current performance to predict potential problems. She discussed how cloud computing and other proprietary tools can be used to capture, manage, and analyze immense amounts of big data while Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) algorithms evaluate this data and create effective situational models.
