OST has recently joined the National Spectrum Consortium (NSC), a research and development organization that incubates new technologies to revolutionize the way in which the nation’s electromagnetic spectrum is utilized. The organization currently has over 200 diverse members which include representatives from large businesses, small businesses, government contractors, academic research institutions, and not-for-profit organizations.
Spectrum systems are used for the management of the radio spectrum, which is critical to the day-to-day operations of U.S. civil and military aviation in the National Airspace System (NAS). OST has significant experience in this field, as a provider of systems engineering, implementation, and enhancement to seven of the US Department of Transportation spectrum systems, led by the Automated Frequency Manager (AFM) System. OST proposed and supported major enhancements to the system and several other sub-systems to move to the next level of safety while creating the Spectrum Engineering Services workplace for the future. OST modernized several legacy systems, addressing both technology refresh efforts and major software application enhancements that have substantially increased system performance, scalability, and functionalities that address current Spectrum requirements.
